The purpose:

Sif Travel is a travel agency in Iceland taking care of travel planning and offering private tours in and around Iceland. We love to travel and want to share that joy with others.

The legal stuff:

Sif Travel has a full permission to function as a travel acency in Iceland . This permit is provided by Icelandic Tourist Board which, in accordance with the Tourism Act, designates a travel agency as a party, whether an individual or a legal entity, which organizes, offers and sells package tours for a professional purpose, whether on own initiative or in response to a customers request, within Iceland or abroad. A travel agency can also undertake and provide all the travel-related services of a tour operator, whether in the form of package tours or not. The concept of a travel agency covers both travel wholesalers and travel retailers in accordance with Act No. 80/1994 with regard to package tours.

Governing Law / Jurisdiction:

Sif Travel operates in accordance with Icelandic law.

Cancellation policy:

Day Tours

Should Sif Travel need to cancel the tour, it is fully refundable or we will seriously hunt for a replacement tour, though not to be guaranteed or expected.
Should the customer need to cancel the tour, the deposit will be retained if the notice is more than one month. If the cancellation notice is less than one month, there is no refund.
In case of flood, volcano action, closed roads or storm warning by the Icelandic Met Office, we will discuss this with the customer and may agree upon a mutual cancellation if the situation demands it, or set another date. Because we might need to cancel for the reasons above, we strongly advise our customers to have a good travel insurance.

Northern Lights Tours:

The northern lights are a natural phenomenon and we monitor the aurora forecast and base our decision to go on them. We do not go northern light hunting unless we think there is a very good chance of seeing them, if we go and the lights do not appear there is no refund and we will not go another night.

Workshops/Multi-day tours:

Unless otherwise stated in the description of the workshop/Multi-day tour, the following cancellation policy applies for our workshops/Multi-day tours:

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your space in the workshop, or you may pay in full.
The remaining balance is due on a certain date stated in the description of the workshop, usually 60 days before the start of the workshop.
If the remaining balance is not paid in full, your space will be forfeited without any refund of the deposit.

Refunds: If we do not meet the minimum number of participants and need to cancel, you will of course be fully refunded.

All cancellations are subject to a minimum of a $150 service charge.
In addition, if you cancel and your spot is otherwise filled, you will be refunded the full amount you have paid (minus the $150 service charge). However if you cancel and your spot is not filled, the following fee schedule applies:

90 days or more: full refund minus $150 fee
60 days to 90 days: 50% refund
Less than 60 days: no refund

Refunds will be paid in the same method that the original payment was made.

Refunds will be initiated within 72 hours of the time that the request is approved.

Good to know:

Accommodation and food is not included in the price unless it says so in the description.
Travel insurance is not included in the price, so customers are advised to have personal travel insurance.
Before you start the tour, be sure to have email contact with us.
Your guide´s mobile number is at the bottom of the confirmation email from Sif Travel.
In case of a hotel pickup, please be sure to leave the guide information regarding the hotel you are staying at, as well as the room number.
If you have any complaints or comment, please let us know as soon as possible via email. We value all comments and will make an effort to better ourselves where needed.

Privacy Policy:

We respect your privacy and do not tolerate spam. We will never sell, rent, lease or give away your information (name, address, email, etc.) to any third party.

Terms of payment:

We accept payments via wire transfer (no additional cost on our behalf) or via Visa / Mastercard (a 1,9% fee may apply).

Other:

Sif Travel reserves the right to take photographs or videos during the operation of any expedition or part thereof and to use the resulting photography for promotional purposes. By making a reservation with Sif Travel expeditions, participants agree to allow their images to be used in such photography; participants who prefer that their image not be used are asked to identify themselves to their guide at the commencement of their trip.
